Underwrap Tape – protective layer for comfortable taping
Underwrap Tape is a thin, flexible tape used as a protective intermediate layer beneath conventional athletic tape. It is designed to prevent direct skin contact with strong adhesive tapes and protect the skin during frequent use or when sensitive. Underwrap is made of a soft, slightly stretchy material that can be easily wrapped around joints and other body parts without restricting movement.
The greatest advantage of this type of tape is its skin-friendly properties. Strongly adhesive sports tapes can cause irritation, especially during long training sessions or frequent taping. Underwrap tape creates a comfortable barrier that protects both the tape and the skin. It allows for removal of the tape without leaving residue or causing pain. It also noticeably improves comfort, as the tape doesn't pull directly against the skin.
Underwrap is primarily used in combination with non-elastic tape, but can also be combined with other taping techniques. It is suitable for areas such as ankles, wrists, or knees – anywhere where large areas of tape are being taped or sensitive skin needs additional protection. The tape can be easily unwound from the roll and torn off by hand, making it easy to apply even on the go or when time is tight.
Underwrap Tape is available in various colors and roll widths. It offers a practical addition to the tape range when comfort and skin compatibility are paramount. As the basis for professional taping systems, it plays an important role in preventative and supportive sports care.
